Housing

KU offers many types of on-campus accommodations and highly recommends that all students live in facilities operated by the Department of Student Housing for at least their first year in attendance until becoming familiar with KU and the Lawrence community.

Residence Halls

Each of the eight halls all for single students, some women-only, some coed, some "interest-oriented," some traditional and some en-suite rooms has a distinct personality. In all residence halls, meal plans are provided in conveniently located dining commons.

Scholarship Halls

About 535 students each year are selected to live in one of 11 smaller cooperative halls for men or women, where residents manage household tasks like cooking or cleaning and are self-governing.

Thematic Learning Community (TLC)

This program permits first-time freshmen who share  academic interests to work with professors and peer educators in interdisciplinary studies and activities that fulfill curricular requirements. Residential and non-residential options are available.

On-Campus Apartments

Jayhawker Towers apartment complex houses single non-traditional, upperclass and transfer students. Up to four may share the two-bedroom apartments, which are partly furnished and have small kitchens.

On-Campus Family Housing

Stouffer Place is a complex of 283 apartments in 25 units reserved for students with children who live with them on a permanent basis or students who are married. One-, two- or three-bedroom apartments are available on a terraced hillside with playgrounds.
